7/99 to present Well-earned retirement from Boeing - but not from business (see page 4) 10/95 to 6/99 Senior Manager, Electronic Commerce Implementation, The Boeing Company Responsible to promote and insert electronic commerce initiatives into business processes company-wide: As Web Program Manager, established the governance and management structure to create one of the worlds largest and most effective intranets and extranets - inside the firewall: 190,000 active users, 2300 major web sites, 1,400,000 web pages indexed and searchable, and over 1,500 business partner companies connected (including the world's 425 airlines). The Boeing Web is in-production, run like a utility on a 7x24 mission-critical basis, and is the primary means of electronic process communication. As of June 1999, over $2 million/day of electronic commerce was being conducted over the web. Also responsible to make Microsoft Exchange a mission critical messaging component of the company. Launched in March 1996, it is the largest installation of MS Exchange in the world. Formed an inter-company consortium, limited to those corporations with 25,000 seats or more, to speak with one voice to Microsoft. 1/91 to 10/95 Manager, Business Processes and Technology, Defense & Space GroupFacilitator of the Business Process Architecture initiative for D&SG supporting functional and cross-functional program process efforts nationwide. Member of the company-wide Vision 2010 team that developed executive consensus that Boeing should become process oriented. 4/89 to 1/91 Manager, Strategic Computing Planning, Defense & Space GroupTeam leader for development of a vision and a strategic plan for all computing systems within the non-commercial business segments of The Boeing Company. Responsible for achieving consensus and commitment to the strategic plan over a wide range of functional interests and responsible for monitoring compliance with the plan. 1/85 to 4/89 Director of Computing, Boeing Electronics CompanyResponsible for overall strategic and tactical planning, implementation, and coordination of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Business systems for Boeing Electronics Company. Functions include management of $45 million of annual support from Boeing Computer Services, chairmanship of computing steering council, systems architecture, software, network and computer acquisition and integration. Achieved government certification of an integrated manufacturing resources planning, accounting, and cost/schedule control system criteria management reporting system. 6/83 to 12/84 Director of Facilities, Boeing Engineering & Construction CompanyIn addition to the computing responsibilities described below, responsible for all Facilities functions for Boeing Engineering Company. Functions included management of 15 real property leases; capital asset planning, budgeting, and acquisition; leasehold improvements; maintenance; and space planning. Boeing landlord responsibility for 258,000 square feet of office, laboratory, and warehouse space. Annual expenditure of $7.5 million. 1/80 to 12/84 Director of Computing, Boeing Engineering & Construction CompanyResponsible for defining, analyzing, designing, developing and implementing all computing systems for Boeing Engineering Company and its subsidiaries. Responsible for installation of a DOE certified C-Spec compliant manufacturing and accounting system for BEC Southeast, Inc. in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Interface manager between Boeing Engineering Company and Boeing Computer Services. Achieved 15% to 20% underrun to annual budgets of $3.5 million. 9/79 to 12/79 Advanced Management Program, Harvard Graduate School of Business, PMD.Selected by Boeing to participate in this fourteen week Harvard program in Boston. 6/78 to 8/79 Program Manager, Computerized Business Systems, Electronic Support Division, Boeing Aerospace CompanyResponsible for existing computer systems and for designing and developing new computer systems to assure economic and competitive support for the Electronic Support Division. 7/77 to 5/78 Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing Program Manager, Boeing Aerospace CompanyResponsible for the development of a CAD/CAM plan for Boeing Aerospace that fostered and guided the development and implementation of a Boeing Aerospace CAD/CAM program. Instrumental in establishing the Production Management System as a commercial product for Boeing Computer Services. (N.B. This software was subsequently sold to Western Data, who converted it to the IBM platform and was still selling it as of 1997.) 5/74 to 6/77 Manager, Business Systems Development, Boeing Electronics Division, Boeing Aerospace CompanyResponsible for design, development, implementation, and integration of the mini-computer based Production Management System, an on-line, real-time material requirements planning system which incorporated all manufacturing functions into a unified concept. The system supported the Division's growth from $6 million annual sales to $30 million with a minimal increase in shop support personnel. 5/73 to 4/74 Major Programs and Proposal Support Supervisor, Research and Engineering Division, Boeing Aerospace CompanyResponsible for all Finance activities relating to the division's contracts. Functions included proposal preparation and review, customer negotiations, monitoring of contracts totaling $40 million to assure financial compliance, and customer C-Spec reporting. Responsible for both Program Financial Controls and Cost and Schedules functions. 3/72 to 4/73 Finance Systems Supervisor, Boeing Aerospace CompanyResponsible for the computer systems and staff that produced all recurring customer financial reports for all Boeing Aerospace contracts and for computer support to all Boeing Aerospace major proposals. 10/71 to 2/72 Computer Systems Surveillance and Maintenance Supervisor, Boeing Aerospace CompanyResponsible for coordination, implementation, and maintenance of existing Boeing Aerospace Finance systems, including, general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, sales order, and cost accounting. 9/67 to 9/71 Technical Analyst, Finance Estimating, SRAM Program, Boeing Aerospace CompanyPrepared both detail cost estimates and total program funding estimates. Member of the resident negotiating team at Wright-Patterson AFB for the first Short Range Attack Missile, $ 350 million production contract. Prepared total program work breakdown structure budget allocations following contract award. Represented Boeing at the Pentagon in support of Congressional budgeting for the SRAM program. 6/66 to 9/67 Cost Estimating Analyst, Advanced Systems Estimating, Boeing Aerospace CompanyConducted research and prepared parametric relationships, cost models, and computer systems and used these techniques to develop cost estimates for advanced weapons systems.
OTHER BUSINESS EXPERIENCE 5/77 to present Issaquah Cable Television Commission Negotiated for the City of Issaquah, in 1980, a landmark cable television franchise with Teleprompter, Inc. following a protracted litigation which reached the Washington State Supreme Court. Since that time, involved in administration of the franchise as Chair and as Commissioner during the reconstruction of the cable system and the transfer of the franchise first to Group W Cable and later to TCI Cable. Renegotiated the franchise with TCI (now AT&T Broadband) in July 1998, which led to a new fiber based system and "most favored nations" clauses to guarantee the lowest rates and equal technology of any TCI system in the State of Washington. Currently chair of the Commission. 6/70 to 12/83 M. G.
